Last week we tried out a new sushi restaurant near our house called Sushi by Yuji. It’s much nicer and more authentic than the sushi places we usually go to. A nice treat after writing my certification exam last week.

The sushi was great, but the service wasn’t. The fish was all fresh and good but we waited 5ever for our food. We were sitting at the sushi bar so I could see the chef making roll after roll after roll for the other two tables. He didn’t start on our order until he had completely finished the other two tables. I feel like he should have made us something in the middle of that! They also forgot to make the big sushi platter we asked for, and then tried to charge us twice for it when we did get it.

These negitoro with egg thingies were cool. First time trying sushi with raw egg in it! It was squishy and tasty and also very hard to fit in my mouth!

We also got a spicy salmon roll that was decent. I watched him make it and now I know how to make spicy rolls at home! (Sriracha, mayo, green onion… why did we never think of that…)

Overall it was good but I’m not in a big rush to go back because the extra cost doesn’t seem worth it when you can get pretty decent sushi faster and easier at other places.

Back again with another daily dinners post. There’s a few restaurant meals in the mix but I didn’t talk about them much because I think I’ll make separate review posts later.

september 8th, 2013 – pesto pasta with sausage and peppers

september 9th, 2013 – pulled pork sandwich with green beans

september 10th, 2013 – alaska roll and spicy tuna roll from Sushi Garden

We picked up sushi before going to a movie… accidentally carried it sideways in Scott’s bag. Oops!! SUSHI SCRAMBLE! Still tasted delicious though. I think Sushi Garden is my new favourite cheapo sushi restaurant.

Lots of recipes in this daily dinners post today! They’re linked in the captions in the pictures, which for whatever reason don’t seem to show up on Feedly. You’ll have to click over to the post on my blog if you’re using Feedly and interested in seeing them.

I do have some fun stuff to talk about too….

Scott and I are meeting Rosemarie in Hawaii in November. Natasha is coming too! We’ve booked a little cottage near Kailua Beach and it’s going to be such a fun trip. I am really looking forward to that. Also it means Rosemarie is on her way home so that’s awesome.

We went out for a nice dinner at Miku last night. We tried their fancy seared pressed sushi and stuff and drank fancy cocktails. It was nice but really expensive for what you get. I’ll post pictures in my next daily dinners post.

Now that I’m done school and unemployed I have lots of time to do stuff like go to the gym and do crafts. I’ve got a whole bunch of little projects in mind to start on soon. I can paint my nails again too!!

Lesley and Vipi came over the other night to celebrate being done the program. We drank and ate cheezies and played two games of Ticket To Ride. :)

Skeleton tryouts are next Saturday. Unfortunately for me they changed the testing protocol to mostly sprints so my performance is probably going to be highly embarrassing, but I think I’m still going to give it a go. Scott reminded me that not anyone can say they’ve even tried out for a provincial team, which was quite convincing.
