I’M DONE SCHOOL! …AGAIN… ..FOR NOW…

I wrote the CAMRT exam yesterday. It was fine, I didn’t find the questions too hard. It was just super long. 4 hours, 200 multiple choice!! I am pretty confident I passed.

So now I just need a job!

Things still aren’t sounding great here. I’ll keep making my calls and keeping in touch with people but I mean… how long do I wait? If any jobs get posted in Ottawa or Toronto I’m definitely going to apply too. I’m also trying to figure out the whole re-certification process for Australia. It isn’t as simple as I thought though. IJUSTWANTTOSTAYHERE.

Anyway at least now I have time to do all those things that I’ve been putting off for two years. Like sorting out ridiculous insurance problems (ex. please send us the denial statement from your other insurer. YOU ARE THE OTHER INSURER YOU DUMDUMS!!) and hanging up all the clothes that fell down in the closet and unpacking boxes from the first time we moved and responding to emails from nine months ago. Heh.

Lots of recipes in this daily dinners post today! They’re linked in the captions in the pictures, which for whatever reason don’t seem to show up on Feedly. You’ll have to click over to the post on my blog if you’re using Feedly and interested in seeing them.

august 25th, 2013 – stir fry

august 26th, 2013 – steak fajitas

august 27th, 2013 – cajun chicken sandwich

I may be smiling in that picture but actually I felt like puking from nervousness!! I was so so so scared to actually do the tryouts. Scott had to drag me there, pretty much. I felt more nervous than I do before giving presentations!!!

Thankfully it ended up being a super small group (5 people) and not super intimidating. My sprint performance was pretty pathetic but I apparently had the best broad jump form. (THANK YOU YOUTUBE!) I jumped 1.78 m which is only about ONE METER TOO SHORT. Lol.

But I guess since so few people actually showed up I made the team? I’m just kidding grandma. I don’t have the time/money to actually do that anyway. Even though it was slightly embarrassing I’m still glad I went and glad I got the chance to show Ivo that I am still really interested in skeleton. I guess it worked because he talked about bringing us to Calgary to try running starts in the icehouse in a couple weeks!!

BTW my skeleton goals:

  • Year 1: Break 100 km/hr. DONE.
  • Year 2: Move up starting positions. DONE.
    • break 120 km/hr (this was mostly Chris’s goal but I beat it first so it became my goal too). DONE.
  • Year 3: do a running start!

Countdown to the CAMRT certification exam: 14 days

My goals for the next 2 weeks:

  • study a lot
  • eat a real breakfast and lunch every day
  • prepare good meals for dinner every day
  • do lots of exercise (5x/week) – gym/swimming/HIIT/yoga?
  • drink lots of water
  • save $$ and bus tickets by walking/biking
  • paint my nails while I can!

And beyond:

  • get a job of some sort (hopefully NM!!)
  • start doing art projects again
  • play more board games
  • meet new friends

I do have some fun stuff to talk about too….

Scott and I are meeting Rosemarie in Hawaii in November. Natasha is coming too! We’ve booked a little cottage near Kailua Beach and it’s going to be such a fun trip. I am really looking forward to that. Also it means Rosemarie is on her way home so that’s awesome.

We went out for a nice dinner at Miku last night. We tried their fancy seared pressed sushi and stuff and drank fancy cocktails. It was nice but really expensive for what you get. I’ll post pictures in my next daily dinners post.

Now that I’m done school and unemployed I have lots of time to do stuff like go to the gym and do crafts. I’ve got a whole bunch of little projects in mind to start on soon. I can paint my nails again too!!

Lesley and Vipi came over the other night to celebrate being done the program. We drank and ate cheezies and played two games of Ticket To Ride. :)

Skeleton tryouts are next Saturday. Unfortunately for me they changed the testing protocol to mostly sprints so my performance is probably going to be highly embarrassing, but I think I’m still going to give it a go. Scott reminded me that not anyone can say they’ve even tried out for a provincial team, which was quite convincing.
