I don’t think I have ever mentioned this on my blog, but for all of 2012 I’ve been keeping this ridiculous spreadsheet to record how many times I did certain things. Like… how many times I ate banh mi (8). Or how many labs I did at school (42).

I am not going to lie, I’m glad this year is over and I don’t have to do this any more. While the results are somewhat interesting, it was pretty annoying to have to keep up with it all the time. I have other ideas for 2013 though… so my record keeping isn’t quite over.

ANYWAY, without further delay, here are me results!!

Well I didn’t spend the ENTIRE weekend sliding down ice tracks at 115 km/hr.

We also played board games (Wasabi), had a fire, watched lots of No Reservations, did homework (me only), etc etc. It was a very fun relaxing weekend.

Brian and Morgan just moved into their new place in Creekside and we were their first guests ever. :D I like their apartment. I would totally live there!!! Both of them still need jobs but they have lots of relevant experience so I don’t think they will have any trouble.

Whistler skiing is probably not opening for a couple more weeks. It was still verrrry green and wet when we were there.

I like that the lines on the carpet make Scott look speedy.

I’m back at school this week and next. Being at school is definitely much worse than being at clinical. Although I do appreciate being able to sleep in a bit.

Yes I did post that yesterday! I just love it. :D

On Wednesday Leslie came to visit us on her way to Korea. It was really great to see her, and I can’t wait to hear about her upcoming adventures!! She already has more plans in the next month than I do!!!

We brought Leslie to The Eatery because she is an adventurous sushi eater. :D It’s pretty far from our house but it’s so fun and tasty! I love that restaurant. It always seems worth the journey.

Now that Scott and I have been there a few times we have a better idea of the good and not-so-good rolls and we ended up with a really really good meal. All the food was awesome.

From top to bottom:

  • Viva Las Vegas: crab, eel, avocado, cream cheese, spicy misonnaise (tempura style)
  • Italian Stallion: prosciutto, papaya, eel, cream cheese, hot pesto sauce
  • The Figa Roll: figs, blue cheese sauce, tempura crunch wrapped with prosciutto
  • Green Hornet: tempura prawns, avocado, mango
  • Electric Banana: eel, avocado topped with tempura banana
  • Buddha Roll: tempura yams, red pepper, asparagus and lettuce, with dragon sauce

And the one on the right:

  • The Volcano: tuna, scallops, salmon and avocado (tempura style) on a lava bed of spicy crab meat

I loved the Figa Roll and the Italian Stallion the most, as usual.

I guess the drinks were the weak part of the meal. The waitress brought Scott the wrong beer, the blender was broken so I couldn’t get a sake margarita, and Leslie’s snakebite didn’t have any grenadine in it. :/

Then we came home and played Ticket To Ride. Yay board games.

I achieved another one of my summer goals this weekend! We had some friends-of-a-friend to come over to play board games with us on Friday night and it was fun. We played two games of Wasabi and one game of Ticket To Ride. I totally smashed them at Ticket To Ride, I somehow managed to complete Vancouver to Montreal, Seattle to New York, AND Los Angeles to New York. That’s a lot of points.

We went to the Vancouver farmers market again yesterday. We didn’t buy that much because it is SO EXPENSIVE! We just bought 6 figs, a loaf of cheddar jalapeno bread, and one corn cob (Scott doesn’t really like corn). I am extremely excited to try cooking with figs for the first time. I’m going to make a pizza with figs, goat cheese, and prosciutto.

The farmers market is nice because everything is good quality, but I’m not at the point where I want to spend a lot of money to get organic products and fancy stuff. I would prefer a farmers market where everything is dirty, I don’t need perfectly lined up tents and neatly stacked up pyramids. I just want cheap produce!!

We also went swimming at the outdoor pool near our house. It’s a pretty big pool, and it wasn’t crowded. Too bad we didn’t really know about it until the very end of the summer!

We have been mega busy in the last four days. I’m pooped.

While Scott looks happy in this picture, Canada Day in downtown Vancouver was a disappointment. It was crowded and there was nothing good going on. There were some food carts but they were too expensive and there were trucks giving out samples of chocolate milk and stuff but the lines were too long. And the lumberjack show was too slow paced and boring. So we went home.

On the Monday of the long weekend Scott and I went mattress shopping. Our old mattress has just gotten too soft unfortunately, even though it’s only two years old. I have been waking up with a sore back for a while, from sleeping in a canyon, and Scott snores more now!!! >:( So we got a way more firm mattress on mega sale and it gets delivered on Sunday. I CAN’T WAIT. We checked out all the stores nearby to get the best deal.

We also played many many games of Agricola over the weekend. THE BEST GAME!! Check out this game where Scott sucked so bad he lost 38 to 10. Even if you don’t know the game you can see how badly Scott did. He doesn’t even know what went so so wrong, hahaha.

My board.

Scott’s board. HAHAHA.

Tuesday was MY BIRTHDAY! We had a really good dinner at Phnom Penh. We had tons of food including their famous chicken wings and butter beef. My favourite dish of the night was the deep fried squid though… man oh man it was SO TENDER. That was the softest, non-chewy squid I have ever had. I don’t know how they do it! Unfortunately a lot of the dishes (including the squid) were extremely salty though so while I’m glad we finally tried it, I don’t know if I will go back again.

Rosemarie got me a nanaimo square cake and Scott made cookies. I got awesome presents this year including Ticket To Ride from my Aussie family, and a Kindle from Scott!!! I am spoiled!!!

Us playing Ticket To Ride on my birthday. Rosemarie won.

Then yesterday was Rosemarie’s goodbye party. I had parmesan and herb wings and a cocktail called a Rocket Pop. It was good but I think I ate too fast and felt really nauseous so that’s all I had. Rosemarie had a lot of friends show up. I think it was a good goodbye party for her.

I’ve still been having to wake up at 5:45 AM for work this week too, but tomorrow is the last day of that for a while. I don’t think anyone should ever have to wake up at anything before 6:00 AM. Cardiac stress lab has been my hardest rotation so far. There is lots of stuff happening and the same time and you don’t really get to stop moving until the afternoon. I’ve done 5 injections so far but that’s it. Not the right rotations to do a lot of injections unfortunately. And next week won’t have many either. Boo.

ANYWAY that’s me all caught up I think! I’m looking forward to this evening bumming around with Scott and playing some more Ticket To Ride once Rosemarie gets back from her errands.
