Once a year Whistler has their Santa Ski Day, where if you show up at 7 AM dressed as Santa, you get a free lift ticket. Our costumes only cost $8 so this was a mega good deal. Plus it was lots of fun!

really tired after only getting 3 hours sleep, but excited

It was funny having people yell things at us all day. “SANTA!!!” “MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!” “HO HO HO” “SANTA AM I GETTING A GO-PRO FOR CHRISTMAS??”. I guess the little kids in lessons were counting santas all day, they would get soooo excited!!!

we duct taped our santa hats to our helmets

A+ day!!

santa day even made the newspaper! unfortunately we are a little out of the frame of this shot

The morning was perfect, then visibility got a bit bad in the afternoon. We still skied a good full day. Then we all came back to Rob’s cabin for a party. He brought a keg, haha. I don’t like beer at all but I still had some.

The party went on for a loooong time, even after I stopped drinking (…DAD). Two nights in a row of very little sleep. :/

Still more to come…

Happy holidays! (if you’re in to that kind of thing… otherwise… Good morning!)

I got a Wacom tablet for Christmas this year so expect many more doodles to come!!

We had a great time at Whistler. Lots of skiing, skeleton, snow, rotisserie meats, and beer. Scott now has more winter driving experience than I do. He also improved a lot at snowboarding! I went 118 km/hr on the skeleton track, but took it pretty easy on the ski slopes.

It was nice to speak to Rosemarie and Helenka in NZ on Skype yesterday, and the whole family in Ontario too. Scott and I had a pretty relaxed Christmas day, we just watched Home Alone and Rounders and ate lasagna and popcorn.

More to come later.

My friend Janine (my roommate from first year of university) was in town this week for work. I met up with her downtown to hang out the other day!

She had heard about Japadog from some other friends so we knew where to have lunch already. We went to the actual Japadog restaurant on Robson because it was a crazy weather day (we had hail, rain, sun, and snow all within a couple hours). The restaurant was packed but we were able to get a spot at a table by the time our food was actually ready.

We got the spicy cheese terimayo hot dog and the special avocado hot dog and split them both. Janine ordered us some melon floats and fries as well (not pictured). Everything was very tasty!! (The only negative I would say is that the avocado one had just a bit too much cream cheese and mayo.) The fries reminded us of something else but neither of us could figure out what. Maybe some kind of chip flavour or something? I liked them and would order them again.

Has Japadog lowered their prices or do the stands and the restaurant have different prices? Because I had Japadog once before a year or so ago and it was like $9.50 for a hotdog! I do remember the hotdog being a lot bigger. Now they are around $5-$6 and smaller, which is better, in my opinion.

It’s mega snowing!! (At least for Vancouver standards!). This is the most accumulation of snow that I have ever seen here in the last two winters. And it’s still coming down hard!

I am so so glad I don’t have to take the bus anywhere today, it must be pandemonium on the roads out there! Nope instead I’ll be staying inside and playing more Settlers of Catan on Scott’s ipad. :D

EPIC WEEKEND AHEAD!!

I am already so so excited for this coming weekend. Scott got the 24th off so now he has a five day weekend!! It’s nice that we get to have a little holiday together. We really haven’t been doing that lately, he’s been to Australia twice without me, I went to Ottawa without him, he went to Edmonton for work for two weeks without me, I’m going to Fiji without him and then he’s going to Australia again without me!!! It is silly how badly our vacations have been working out.

ANYWAY this long weekend is gonna be funnnnn. Santa skiing, skeleton, more skiing, a kegger, Christmas… all while being at Whistler with friends?!! Can’t get any better than this!

Added bonus that we have awesome friends who are letting us stay with them, and drive their cars, and that we can get a free lift ticket by dressing like Santa on Saturday. Epic fun weekend while still on a budget!! Perfection!

PERMA-GRIN!!!!
