Scott made these sweet cupcake burgers for his work bake sale. Everyone loved them and they were the first things to sell out! That’s a brownie “beef patty” in between vanilla cupcake “buns” with icing “lettuce” and “ketchup”, with heart sprinkles cut in half “sesame seeds”!

I made M&M cookies for me and Reese’s Pieces cookies for Scott. They turned out tasty but SO flat. Then I realized that our baking powder expired in 2011. That MIGHT have something do with it, haha!

This Crepes of Wrath focaccia turned out awesome. I really enjoyed my cheese sandwich for breakfast this morning! Making bread is kinda cool but I certainly miss my mom’s KitchenAid mixer with dough hook for sure. Especially for this one because the dough was suuuuuper sticky!

Back again with another daily dinners post. There’s a few restaurant meals in the mix but I didn’t talk about them much because I think I’ll make separate review posts later.

september 8th, 2013 – pesto pasta with sausage and peppers

september 9th, 2013 – pulled pork sandwich with green beans

september 10th, 2013 – alaska roll and spicy tuna roll from Sushi Garden

We picked up sushi before going to a movie… accidentally carried it sideways in Scott’s bag. Oops!! SUSHI SCRAMBLE! Still tasted delicious though. I think Sushi Garden is my new favourite cheapo sushi restaurant.

september 11th, 2013 – homemade burger with avocado and yellow sweet potato fries

september 12th, 2013 – big salad with grilled chicken

september 13th, 2013 – panang curry with chicken, peas, green beans, zucchini, eggplant

september 14th, 2013 – homemade chicken soup with homemade bread

september 15th, 2013 – big salad with grilled chicken

september 16th, 2013 – bruschetta with grilled chicken

september 17th, 2013 – assorted sushi from Sushi By Yuji

september 18th, 2013 – lasagna

september 19th, 2013 – leftover chicken soup and cheesy garlic bread

september 20th, 2013 – savoury pancake and sticky cauliflower

I like the pancake but Scott didn’t, and Scott liked the cauliflower but I didn’t. Ha.

september 21st, 2013 – chicken, crepe, steamed buns, lobster, cheesecake from Richmond Night Market

For once I actually feel like I ate enough vegetables to not worry that people will think I don’t eat enough vegetables. Ha. By the way I eat bananas, strawberries, carrots at work almost every day. Anyway this is a pretty good collection of food this time!

We’ve been buying a head of lettuce and a head of spinach and washing and cutting it up right away. It keeps well in the fridge and that plus a few more vegetables and some grilled protein makes a very nutritious and quick dinner. I’ve really been enjoying our salad dinners out on the patio the past couple weeks.

july 14th, 2013 – prawns with citrus risotto at Dark Table

Har har har. Still funny. If you missed it, you can read about our dinner at Dark Table here.

july 16th, 2013 – steak salad

Rare enough for you?? I accidentally spent $15 on steak that day. Oops steaks are way heavier than I expected. We ate well that night, that’s for sure!!

A day late!! Oops!! I swear the past few days haven’t had 24 hours in them…

This is a pretty weird collection of food. It pretty much covers the entire time that Scott was in Australia. I always have very little motivation to cook when I’m only cooking for me. But actually doing these daily dinners post did motivate me to eat real things for dinner instead of chips, so that’s good. Prepare yourself for a lot of cheddar smokeys.

june 30th, 2013 – party leftovers: bbq chicken, sriracha hummus

july 1st, 2013 – party leftovers: cheddar smokeys, corn, sriracha hummus, garlic bread

july 2nd, 2013 – more party leftovers: 7 layer dip, chicken skewers

july 3rd, 2013 – pupusas from the latin restaurant across the street

I only realized yesterday that I was supposed to put that baggie of veggies on top of the pupusa. That probably would have made it a little less dry, oops.

More pictures after the jump… (sorry Auntie Hsi!!)Continue reading

Half way through the year!

We got our new (to us) bbq running and it is great. I’m really loving grilled eggplant at the moment. The grilled corn I made at our housewarming was really nice too, and it’s a good thing because I’ve got about 8 more ears of corn to eat this week!!

Mmm nutrition. We found the zucchini flowers at the farmers market and just had to try them. They’re one of those foods that they are constantly using on Masterchef and we’ve never really tried them. They were tasty. Other similar Masterchef things: verjuice and figs (although we have tried plenty of figs now). Oh yeah deep frying is terrifying. I think once every 2 years is about as often as I want to try that.

june 17th, 2013 – garlic and chili pasta with scallops and peas

june 18th, 2013 – perogies, cucumber and tomatoes

more after the jump…Continue reading
