The day after santa ski day I did a skeleton session. I didn’t take any pictures.

I did one run from Maple Leaf for practice and then five from Novice start, which is one corner down from the Junior start I did last month. (Novice start was under construction before.) 10 corners out of 16, BTW.

It wasn’t the best skeleton day. Because of the order we were sliding in I never got to hear any of my speeds and I never got to talk with the coach. Also I was tired and sore from not sleeping and from skiing the day before, so I was a little floppy. I bumped the sides more than usual.

I didn’t get any bruises on my arms or legs though and I did get some pretty good speeds and times (118 km/hr), so I guess the session went better than it felt at the time.

On Monday Scott, Brian and I went out skiing/boarding again. Scott seemed to have improved heaps since the previous morning (when I ditched him, haha). Brian rode switch. It was great being able to spend the whole morning together. We did a nice tour of the green runs on Whistler and even took the Peak to Peak across to do another run together on Blackcomb. The conditions could not get any better than that morning. Clear blue skies, not even that cold or windy. Perfecto.

And it wasn’t even that crowded for a holiday!! I only found it busy at the bottom of the hill near the end of the day. I guess because every single lift was open everyone was able to spread out quite well.

It ended up clouding over just as Brian and I decided to go up to the actual peak. We couldn’t see a meter in front of us! Sucks when you can’t tell if the next part is going to go up or down. That run tired me out soooo bad!!

Brian set up a rotisserie in his fireplace so we roasted a whole chicken one night, and a big chunk of pork butt the other night. DELICIOUS!!!

And then Scott and I drove home on Tuesday. What an awesome holiday we had.

Once a year Whistler has their Santa Ski Day, where if you show up at 7 AM dressed as Santa, you get a free lift ticket. Our costumes only cost $8 so this was a mega good deal. Plus it was lots of fun!

really tired after only getting 3 hours sleep, but excited

It was funny having people yell things at us all day. “SANTA!!!” “MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!” “HO HO HO” “SANTA AM I GETTING A GO-PRO FOR CHRISTMAS??”. I guess the little kids in lessons were counting santas all day, they would get soooo excited!!!

we duct taped our santa hats to our helmets

A+ day!!

santa day even made the newspaper! unfortunately we are a little out of the frame of this shot

The morning was perfect, then visibility got a bit bad in the afternoon. We still skied a good full day. Then we all came back to Rob’s cabin for a party. He brought a keg, haha. I don’t like beer at all but I still had some.

The party went on for a loooong time, even after I stopped drinking (…DAD). Two nights in a row of very little sleep. :/

Still more to come…

My friend Janine (my roommate from first year of university) was in town this week for work. I met up with her downtown to hang out the other day!

She had heard about Japadog from some other friends so we knew where to have lunch already. We went to the actual Japadog restaurant on Robson because it was a crazy weather day (we had hail, rain, sun, and snow all within a couple hours). The restaurant was packed but we were able to get a spot at a table by the time our food was actually ready.

We got the spicy cheese terimayo hot dog and the special avocado hot dog and split them both. Janine ordered us some melon floats and fries as well (not pictured). Everything was very tasty!! (The only negative I would say is that the avocado one had just a bit too much cream cheese and mayo.) The fries reminded us of something else but neither of us could figure out what. Maybe some kind of chip flavour or something? I liked them and would order them again.

Has Japadog lowered their prices or do the stands and the restaurant have different prices? Because I had Japadog once before a year or so ago and it was like $9.50 for a hotdog! I do remember the hotdog being a lot bigger. Now they are around $5-$6 and smaller, which is better, in my opinion.

It’s mega snowing!! (At least for Vancouver standards!). This is the most accumulation of snow that I have ever seen here in the last two winters. And it’s still coming down hard!

I am so so glad I don’t have to take the bus anywhere today, it must be pandemonium on the roads out there! Nope instead I’ll be staying inside and playing more Settlers of Catan on Scott’s ipad. :D

Us all dressed up for Scott’s work party on Saturday night.

It was pretty much the exact same party as last year. Ridiculously expensive drinks, delicious buffet dinner, long speeches, casino games, etc.

My favourite part was the baked brie dessert cheese. OM NOM NOM. And getting to take a paid taxi home. :D
